Diocese of Montreal 2010 FLAME Conference . Oct 22-24 - Manoir d'Youville . |
|
FLAME Beginnings. The FLAME conference has its roots in 1952 from a nine-day mission at the Exhibition grounds in Toronto led by Canon Bryan Green. Charlie Storton was asked by the organizing committee to arrange for ushers. Over the course of the mission, Charlie became convinced of the need to take Christ fully into his life. Charlie sensed that women were the spiritual strength of the laity. He felt that men would be more ready to discuss and accept their faith if given the opportunity to hear about Christ in this sort of conference setting. Charlie has been the guiding light for the FLAME conference - as it became known in the Diocese of Toronto. FLAME Spreads to Montreal. In 1988, in keeping with the spiritual growth of the laity at the time, FLAME was brought to the Diocese of Montreal. It has flourished under the steady hand of a committee of dedicated individuals.
